Dear Mystery Readers,
I must inform you that I have recently suffered a sports-related injury that immobilized me--resulting in no drawings this week. I have been living life on the horizontal, and been catching up to some exciting reading material.
I have been reading El Periquillo Sarniento (1816), or The Mangy Parrot, by José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi (whose bewitching visage can be seen below). It is about a rogue Criollo in early 19th Century Mexico City with his hacks, gambling antics, doctor quackery, prison time, among other adventures. It's a good book!
Yes, my excuse is perfectly legitimate. Regular posts of no-nonsense, just-draw-you-ninny sketches will resume next week unless circumstances dictate otherwise.
I'm going to lie down now.
Ah, get better soon!
